1. ABOUT YAKUYAKU

What is YakuYaku?

YakuYaku.com is a translation community owned and managed by Active Gaming Media Co., Ltd. It was created with the aim of offering a meeting place for translators, interpreters, and all kinds of language specialists, as well as to bring translators and clients together, offer fast translation and review services with guaranteed quality, and to support new forms of translation. Originally, it was founded by a small group of three people who simply wanted to protect their rights as translators, but soon new members were added to the team, and now it is managed by six core members and up to 30 language specialists. 2. I AM A TRANSLATOR...

I'm a translator. If I register, am I *guaranteed* to get work?

YakuYaku is the world's #1 site for Japanese language-related translators. If you register your profile, you have an extremely high probability of being discovered by - and subsequently receiving work from - people from all over the world who are interested in your working languages.

Can I contact a client to apply for a job directly?

Unlike most translators' communities, we introduce assignments to you directly. YakuYaku's team of project managers is constantly working to guarantee that clients' translations are delivered on time, and conversely, we also want to guarantee that the client will pay you punctually. However, if you have received an automatic job alarm, of course you can contact the client directly! However you cannot contact a client in the case that the assignment is being managed by YakuYaku directly (where we act as a translation agency).

How can I become an Impossible Translator?

There are two ways to become an Impossible Translator. The first way is to send us all the required documents as noted on the Translator's Board (degree, references, samples etc.) and pass the screening. The second way is get recognition by us. This means if you can convince us of your abilities, e.g., by working for us consistently on a high level or passing our trials, you can become an Impossible Translator without any special requirements.

Will I receive translation work directly from clients?

In some cases, in order to avoid illegal dealings, if a client takes interest in your profile, you will be contacted by a YakuYaku Project Manager. But as long as your profile is viewable by the clients, then yes, you shall be contacted by them. In these cases, we don’t take responsibility for negotiations and dealings between the translator and the client.

Will I receive the payment from the client?

YES: In cases in which you are dealing directly with the client. NO: In cases in which the job was introduced to you by YakuYaku staff, you will receive the payment from YakuYaku via PayPal (or by bank transfer if within Japan) 10 days after the project is "completed". If you use a payment method other than PayPal, we will ask you to run with all the costs. Please bear in mind that a project is only completed when the client checks and confirms that all of the text has been appropriately translated. We might ask you to do some corrections if the quality of your translation does not match the client's expectations.

How can I improve my chances of being found by an employer?

When clients look for a translator, priority is given to translators who have received the "Quality Label" as a recognized Impossible Translator, and to those who have a score ranked by the clients. Because of this, you can improve your chances by applying for Impossible Translations, and by delivering the best translations to the clients in order to get a good rank.

Do I have to invoice to the client?

YES: You can either use your own invoicing system or the one inside your YakuYaku profile. NO: If you are an Impossible Translator you only need to update your profile with your payment information once.

3. FOR OUTSOURCERS

Who can outsource via YakuYaku?

Any business or individual can outsource via YakuYaku. If the posting method is used, certain contact information is required: name, email address, phone number, full address, etc. For certain jobs, such as those on the Impossible Translations website, payment must be made in advance by PayPal.

What is IMPOSSIBLE TRANSLATIONS?

Impossible Translations is the world’s first service of its kind. When you are in a hurry and do not want to waste time sending dozens of emails to translators but need to get the best possible results for your translation, just insert the text into our template and wait for it to be translated. Input your info & upload the source text. Once your payment is confirmed, the source text will be uploaded and a translator will take care of it right away. After translation, a professional proofreader will check the quality. Should a problem regarding quality arise after delivery, the YakuYaku Team will step in and assist.

Do I need to register on YakuYaku?

NO: If you use Impossible Translations or assign the job directly to the YakuYaku team. YES: If you want to use our normal job posting service.

Can I contact a translator and assign him a job directly?

YES: If you use our normal job posting service, you can assign a job directly to a translator. But you must open an account first. We ask you to do this in order to avoid spammers. NO: If you use Impossible Translations. In this case, one of YakuYaku's best

When do I need to pay for a translation?


If you decide to work directly with the translator, you will need to negotiate that with him/her. If you use Impossible Translations, you will be asked to pay via PayPal the moment you submit the job. If you decide to assign the job to the YakuYaku translation team, you will be required to pay via PayPal (or by bank transfer, in Japan only) within 7 days after the assignment is delivered. We might ask you to pay 20% of the total payment in advance if you are not able to provide enough data for your company when the job is assigned.

Is there any proof that the translators registered on this site are actually so proficient?


Yes. For Impossible Translations, we conduct a thorough check on each individual's profile. All Impossible Translators can be identified by our Label of Trust. In addition, the proficiency of all other translators can be evaluated by their individual rank. Translators of ill repute will have their profiles erased and will be blacklisted.

What kind of jobs can be posted at YakuYaku?


Translation, interpretation, localization, and other jobs requiring the services of multilingual professionals or companies may be posted.

What else should I bear in mind?


When posting a job, it is important to be as descriptive as possible with regards to the nature of the work, as well as with your requirements for service providers. The best service providers are in high demand, and will generally not pursue jobs with questionable clients. Jobs posted should respect the principle of equal opportunity.

How will translators contact me if they are interested in a job I've posted?


When a translator wants to apply for one of your posted jobs, he/she will only need to log in and send you an email via YakuYaku. You can choose the translator who best fits your needs from all of the translators who have applied.

What should I do if I find the translation quality to be unsatisfactory?


Translation is not an exact science, and you may feel that some of the terms should have been translated in a different fashion. If this happens, please do not hesitate to contact our project management team. The YakuYaku translation team also offers a Translation Checking and Proofreading service.

Will the project management team charge me for all my requests after a job is delivered?


If we deliver a text, it means that the text was good enough to be delivered. We always like to hear our clients' feedback, but if we find that your requests exceed the boundaries of a simple translation, we might ask you to pay a proofreading fee.

4. RANKINGS

What is LOST IN TRANSLATION?

Lost In Translation is a list to which we publish the names and profiles of translators who have failed to deliver a job on time without prior warning to YakuYaku. Please understand that we do this in order to guarantee a clean business relationship with our translators.

What is the BLACKLIST?


The Blacklist is a list to which we publish the names and data of the companies that do not pay on time. Please understand that we do this in order to guarantee a clean business relationship with our translators. As soon as the contractor pays the fee, we will publish this fact as well.

5. FORUMS

Can just anyone post in the forums?

We must ask you to register first. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this way we can avoid trolls and spammers and the like.

What kind of things can be posted on forums?

YakuYaku forums are provided for discussions related to the fields of translation and interpretation, to YakuYaku, or to the YakuYaku community. They are not provided for other purposes.

What should I do if I feel that the site rules are being violated in a forum?
