History and Social Objectives

YakuYaku was not developed as a commercial site. It was developed with the purpose of becoming a freely accessible translation portal from which outsourcers could offer their small- and mid-sized translation projects to freelance translators and professionals for free, and where the outsourcer would only need to choose the most suitable translator.

Whereas YakuYaku is a completely free service platform for translators, it also contains some paid services for companies. This is due to the recently general drop in translation quality as well as prices in the market. We – the YakuYaku team, consisting of translators from 6 different countries – are concerned about this situation. So we decided to put all our efforts into trying to make a change in the translation world.

YakuYaku stands for quality and innovation. We want to offer our expertise as a translation project management team to our customers in order to not only make our customers feel satisfied with quality and price, but to also give something back to the translation community: stable and reasonable prices for reasonable work. As a translation portal we are the interface between the industry and the translators. What we are trying to do is to optimize the translation workflow, making it more efficient, less costly, and easier to handle. With our paid services, we take over all responsibilities of a translation project, so that on one side a translator only needs to concentrate on his task of translating, and on the other side the client doesn’t need to worry about the difficulties of outsourcing or correctness of translations. Both, however, stay in control of the project. We are also focusing on new technologies for fostering the easiness of translations. Our developers strive to implement all the latest innovations to create a semi-automatic hybrid process to assure the highest results in manual translation.

On YakuYaku, all users are equal. All translators are rated by clients and their ranking reflects the level of their respective translation abilities as well as trustworthiness. (Unlike in other translation communities, in which users can buy high rankings for money or earn trust by providing content for the community. On YakuYaku, only a translator’s abilities count) Each translator has the same chance to take advantage of becoming an Impossible Translator by going through the same screening process.
